Introduction

My name is Khadeejah, and as a hard-of-hearing individual, I am eager to embark on a new journey as a trainer. Although I lack formal experience in ReSkills or similar programs, my extensive background in sewing and teaching has equipped me with valuable skills. I am passionate about using my experiences to support other deaf individuals in the fashion and tailoring industry. Over the years, I have gained significant knowledge in sewing, particularly women's attire, through both certificate and diploma courses. My teaching experience includes instructing hearing students at Bak’s Creation & Services from 2009 to 2020, as well as teaching deaf students at Casa Ria Design & Contract Sdn. Bhd. in 2013.

Background

I am committed to helping the deaf community acquire the correct sewing skills and have already seen positive results. Two of my former students, who received face-to-face instruction in sign language from me, have successfully continued their education at Polytechnic Ibrahim Sultan after my guidance. While I face communication challenges with hearing individuals due to my hearing impairment, I effectively use written notes, mobile phones, and sign language to bridge the gap. My goal is to leverage my expertise and personal journey to make a meaningful impact in the lives of aspiring deaf fashion and tailoring professionals.
